Manitoba Buddhist Vihara and Cultural Association was founded 30 years ago with the purpose of propagating the great teachings of the Buddha who was awakened 2600 years ago. Our perspective is to provide authentic guidance to the community to enhance its peacefulness, mindfulness, strength and harmony based on the original teachings of the Buddha regardless of race, ethnic and religion. We introduce theoretical foundation of the teachings, meditation and mindfulness based on the Sri Lankan Theravada Buddhist tradition.

The Temple Administrative Assistant is the catalyst for smooth and reliable day-to-day operations.  In partnership with the board members of the temple and lay leaders, the Administrator supports the overall mission of the congregation and all programming by ensuring the efficient operation of fiscal, facilities, administrative, communications, and logistical functions.

Key areas of responsibility for the Temple Administrative Assistant include the following:

  • Answer telephone calls, check voice mails and update events,
  • Send weekly program events via email and update and maintain the temple website,
  • Coordinate and manage the temple calendar,
  • Coordinate and support all temple programs and events,
  • Coordinate and manage devotee services – including Dharma Sermon/Pooja bookings, events and facility bookings,
  • Maintain and improve facilities and equipment,
  • Complete a wide variety of spreadsheet tasks by assisting in the preparation of administrative reports, summaries, tables and statements,
  • Manage and coordinate logistics and arrangements for building use,
  • Follow up with devotees to renew the yearly temple sponsorship,
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the food committee,
  • To coordinate religious, spiritual, charitable, educational, social and cultural activities for the benefit of the community,
  • Constant interaction with Senior Buddhist monks,
  • Establish a library in the Temple that focuses on Buddhist philosophy and religion,
  • Attend to various needs upon short notice.



  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Ability to speak English
  • 7 months to 1 year of experience
