Job Description:

Head chef will perform the following duties:

• Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of the establishments with food services
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
• Estimate food requirements and may estimate food and labour costs.
• Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks.
• Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
• Recruit and hire staff.
• May prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.

Education/ Certifications

• Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required.
• Several years of experience in commercial food preparation, including two years in a supervisory capacity is preferred

• Several years of experience as a chef

• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory,
• Analyze operating costs and other data,
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies,
• Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions,
• Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods,
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food,
• Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
• Time management skills
• Analytical skills

Job Criteria:

Start Date: As soon as possible

Wages: $28/hr

Vacation time: 2 weeks/year
